I’m Bethany — founder of The Blue Bee, creative facilitator, quilt shop owner, and lifelong maker.

The Blue Bee began as a simple love of fabric and design, but it has grown into something much deeper: a space where creativity becomes connection.

Whether you’re joining me for a Barn Quilt Class, shopping our online quilt boutique, or booking a traveling workshop for your guild, you’re stepping into a creative environment built around three core rhythms:

Barn Quilt Classes & Workshops

Our Barn Quilt gatherings are intentionally small (usually 12 or fewer participants) so that everyone feels comfortable, seen, and supported. These are not rush-through projects. They are experiences.

We create in community. We breathe. We slow down. And yes — we leave with something beautiful and finished.

I travel to quilt guilds, churches, military groups, and organizations to host custom workshops as well. If your guild is looking for a hands-on, joy-filled event that blends creativity with connection, I would love to partner with you.

The Online Quilt Shop

The Blue Bee Boutique is our online home — a curated quilt shop offering thoughtfully selected fabrics (including favorites like Tilda, Riley Blake Designs, and Art Gallery Fabrics), curated bundles, kits, and creative inspiration.

My heart is creative efficiency and meaningful making. I design offerings that help you build a stash that works beautifully together, so you feel inspired instead of overwhelmed.

My Background

I hold a Master’s degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, with a focus on small group dynamics, communication, team building, and creative problem solving. I’m also certified in diversity and development, and I’ve spent over 25 years facilitating groups — from Fortune 500 companies and the Department of Defense to intimate creative circles like ours.

But before all of that, I was a little girl sitting at my mother’s Singer sewing machine. I grew up surrounded by fabric, geometry, color, and women who stitched stories into cloth. Creativity has always been both my language and my refuge.

Today, I blend my professional background with my artistic roots to create workshops that feel structured yet warm, guided yet freeing. I gently incorporate relaxation methods, creative icebreakers, and practical techniques so participants feel confident — no matter their experience level.
